Answering Some Key Questios About the New Sign On Process

I am not able to “Sign On” with my Account/Credit Card Number like I used to do before?

The mashreqonline Sign On process has changed from August 2007. The new process enhances your online banking experience by making it more simple, convenient and secure.  Instead of entering your 10-digit Account or 16-digit Credit Card number, you will now need to create a User ID for yourself to access mashreqonline.

What has changed in the mashreqonline Sign On Process?

The New Sign On Process is more simple and convenient.  Instead of entering your Account or Credit Card number to Sign On, you will need to create a User ID for yourself. (Just as you would for your account on Gmail, Yahoo!, etc).  Enter your password using the virtual keyboard, a new and more secure feature of mashreqonline.

Once you have created your User ID, the process is the same as before, simply Sign On with your User ID and Password to enjoy your online banking experience.

What is a User ID?

User ID is a unique identification name that you use to identify yourself. This should be a minimum 8 and maximum 16 digit combination of alphanumeric characters (numbers and letters) e.g. virtual12

What do I need to create a User ID?

To create your User ID for the first time, you will need the following:

  • 10-digit Mashreq Account or 16-digit Credit Card number
  • If you are an existing mashreqonline customer, you will need your Existing Password
  • If you are new to mashreqonline, you will need your Telephone Banking Identification Number (TIN)

What is a TIN? How can I obtain a TIN?

Telephone Banking Identification number (TIN) is a unique and secure method of identifying, and verifying our customers. This number helps the bank to reconfirm whether it is providing information to the correct user.  If you have forgotten your TIN number or want to create one for the first time, simply call our Direct Banking Center at:

UAE: +971 (4) 217 4 800

Qatar: +974 - 4800480

Bahrain: +973 17504400

How do I create a User ID for myself?

Creating a User ID is simple.

If you are an Existing mashreqonline User: Click on the ‘Create User ID now’ link in the right hand section of the Main Sign On Page and follow the instructions for creating your User ID.

If you are New to mashreqonline: Click on the ‘Register Now’ link in the right hand section of the Main Sign On Page and follow the instructions for creating your User ID.

Please Note: Once created, the User ID cannot be changed but it can be retrieved in case you forget it.

What is a Virtual Keyboard?

The use of the Virtual Keyboard is a new security feature introduced by Mashreq to Sign On to mashreqonline. With the Virtual Keyboard you enter your User ID & password on the screen with the help of your mouse. Since you do not use the physical keyboard to enter your username and password, you are protected against any spy ware designed to track your key strokes for any malicious intent.

The Virtual keyboard is dynamically generated each time you sign-on, which means that the sequence in which the numbers appear will change each time the page is refreshed. The use of the Virtual Keyboard will be mandatory once the new Sign-on process is introduced on August 24, 2007.

What does the Virtual Keyboard do? Does it make my online banking more secure?

The virtual keyboard is designed to reduce the risk of programs that download themselves to your computer and create key stroke logs that can be used to gain access to your accounts.

Virtual Keyboards do not prevent malicious programs being downloaded to the computer. As a physical keyboard input is not used, key stroke logs are not created.  By preventing the creation of key stroke logs, Virtual keyboards reduce the risk of password misuse and therefore are an important component in securing your online banking experience.
