One Time Password ( OTP) Safety
  1. Never share your card details like OTP, expiry date, CVV or PIN with anyone.
  2. Mashreq Staff will never ask for OTP. If you receive such calls, SMS or Emails, please inform us immediately.
  3. Fraudsters posing as your Bankers/ Legal authorities, can ask you to share your One Time Password (OTP) for any reason. Please do not share your OTP with ANYONE.
  4. Never share your account details, card details or OTP (one-time password) with anyone on a call, SMS, e-mail or on social media.
  5. Never click on any suspicious link and if clicked by mistake, do not enter your account, card or OTP details.
Website Safety
  1. Always shop from genuine online stores. Always type the website address instead of clicking on links. Fake websites lure you with offers and steal your OTP to make fraudulent transactions.
  2. Use only those internet browsers that securely transmit data. You can see whether a browser is secure by making sure the web address begins with https:// and looking for a closed-padlock symbol in the browser.
  3. Only shop on reputable online sites and look out for the '3D secure and verified' badge at the bottom.
  4. Avoid downloading software or programs from unknown sources.
  5. Always key in the website address instead of clicking on a link received via email or text.
Personal Information Safety
  1. Please do not provide any financial/personal/card related information to any unknown internet site or respond to any email seeking such information from you.
  2. Don’t respond to unsolicited email requests for personal account information, even if the source of the request looks trustworthy.
  3. Don’t respond to unsolicited Calls asking for personal account information, even if the source of the request looks trustworthy.
  4. Don’t respond to unsolicited Text Messages asking for personal account information, even if the source of the request looks trustworthy.
  5. Do not share /store your card number on social media sites.
  6. Limit the amount of personal information you provide on social media sites. The more information you post, the easier it may be for a criminal to use that information to steal your identity, access your data or commit other crimes.
  7. Be cautious about messages you receive on social media sites that contain links. Even links that look like they come from friends can sometimes be harmful or fraudulent and in fact may be attempts to gain control on your computer or steal your personal information. If you are suspicious, don’t click the link. Contact your friend or the business directly to verify.
  8. Don’t use your full or partial Emirates ID number as a Personal Identification Number (PIN), user id or password.
  9. Never reply to calls or texts asking for your personal information or payment to receive a prize.
  10. Never respond to emails or text messages that request a fee to claim offers, prizes, courier deliveries, etc. These are fraudsters trying to get your personal information.
  11. Do not download anti-virus or software updates sent via email or SMS.
  12. Never reveal your password or PIN details to strangers.
How Do I Secure My Card Account From Fraud?
  1. Treat your card as cash, never leave it unattended.
  2. Sign your card on the signature panel as soon as you receive it.
  3. Do not sign blank charge slips.
  4. Never put your card number or personal identification number (PIN) on the outside of an envelope or postcard. Never put your PIN on the card or in your wallet or store them on your mobile.
  5. Do not ignore any SMS alerts or calls from the bank regarding your transactions. Call our helpline immediately in case you notice any discrepancies.
  6. Do not leave any card in your car’s glove compartment. An alarmingly high proportion of credit card thefts are from car glove compartments.
  7. Ensure that you get your card back after every purchase.
  8. Always check sales vouchers for the correct purchase amount before you sign them and keep copies of your vouchers.
  9. Always check your billing statements and verify the amount of your purchases.
  10. Make a comprehensive list of all your cards and their numbers and store it in a safe place.
  11. Do not share any personal information when you use your card, other than the displayed personal ID as requested by the merchant.
  12. Do not lend your card to anybody as you are responsible for its use. Some card disputes can be traced directly to customer's family and friends.

  14. Check and report any unidentified transaction on your statement immediately.
  15. Keep your card in sight when purchasing in-store and check that the correct card is returned to you.
  16. Check that the package is intact when you receive a new card and report any lost or stolen cards immediately.
  17. Always shred your card statements, receipts, and cut expired or damaged cards before discarding.
